Sanctuary Supported Living
A love of cooking saw Sue Newell, Assistant Cook at Baird Lodge in Ely, move into her present role.
She said: “I started off as a General Assistant and really enjoyed helping out in the kitchen, so I jumped at the chance to apply for this post when it came up.”
Sue’s main responsibilities include preparing and cooking residents’ meals, stocktaking and serving in the dining room.
The whole kitchen team work closely with the residents on the menus, offering a wide choice and making sure the meals are nutritious and good value.
As a people person, one of Sue’s favourite parts of her job is interacting with the residents and getting involved with cooking activities at the service.
She said: “It’s a real compliment when residents ask me to support them with their events. I have made a few cakes for fetes we have held at Baird Lodge, which raises money for the activities fund.
“I really feel looked after working for Sanctuary Retirement Living. We have a great, friendly team and there is always useful training available for us.”
