Quadruple award win for Sanctuary Supported Living

Sanctuary Supported Living staff are celebrating after being named as winners in four categories at the national Housing with Care awards.

The supported housing service, which is based in Worcester and has services across England, provides accommodation and support for people with learning and physical disabilities, people with mental health needs, homeless young people and adults, and retirement communities for people aged over 55. It had an incredible 18 finalists in the running for 16 different categories at the Housing with Care awards, which led to wins in four categories, smashing last year’s record of 13 finalists and three winners.

The winners were announced at a gala evening on Friday 7 June, held at the Hilton Bankside in London, alongside all the nominees from across the housing with care sector.

Liz Jones, Retirement Communities Manager at Jazz Court in Scarborough, won the Integrated Retirement Community Hero award for her outstanding, inclusive, and holistic approach to building community connections, preventing social isolation, and supporting older people to lead vibrant, independent lives.

The team at Oak Lodge in Attleborough, Norfolk, was named as the winner in the Supported Housing Innovation category, in recognition of the service’s innovative use of assistive technology and the team’s dedication to enhancing the lives of adults with learning disabilities.

Liam Randles, Local Service Manager at Cardigan House in Birkenhead, won the Housing with Care Manager award for his ‘people first’ approach to management, in a service which offers a positive work environment and provides high-quality support for residents with disabilities.

Alexandra Reynolds, Project Worker at Weston Foyer in Weston-Super-Mare, won the Care and Support Worker award, which recognised her positive attitude, her kind and caring approach, and the way she goes above and beyond for the young people she supports.

In addition to the four winners, Sanctuary Supported Living staff were also named as ‘highly commended’ in two categories. Donna Whittle, Local Service Manager, was highly commended in the Housing Manager award category, for her work in transforming Sanctuary Supported Living’s Salford services to a high-level mental health service, meaning that people with complex mental health needs now have a place to call home.

The housekeeping team at Baskeyfield House retirement community in Stoke-on-Trent were named as highly commended in the Housekeeper award, for their meticulous attention to detail in creating a pleasant and homely environment with a personal touch, thanks to their cheerful and caring approach.
